Children in Need helps to fund weekly sailing clubs for children with special needs

The Andrew Simpson Watersports Centre (ASWC) has received funding from Children in Need and the Andrew Simpson Foundation to run ongoing weekly sailing clubs throughout the season for children with special needs at a heavily discounted rate of £5/per person/session. This scheme has been funded for three years and aims to provide the youngsters with social watersports, such as sailing, paddleboarding and kayaking.

The Aiming High sessions, each with 12 places initially, will be running on Sunday mornings at Portland from 12 May for children aged 6 to 13 with learning difficulties or physical disabilities.

As an introduction, ASWC is offering a free taster event there on the morning of 3 May, from 0930-1230, when the children and their carers will be able get on the water and see what it’s all about.

Slots for the tasters and club sessions can be booked through Savannah Gordon on 01305 457400 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
