RYA Midlands has launched a photography competition to give clubs and centres across the region an opportunity to put their activities in the spotlight.
The competition will run over August, September and October, with a mini prize each month ahead of the overall winner being announced in November.
It follows two previous RYA Midlands Photo February competitions. The first took place during Covid lockdown three and invited participants to look back through their albums. The second edition in 2022 then celebrated the return to activities which followed the pandemic, with the winning picture (above) taken by Notts County’s David Eberlin.
For this year’s competition, clubs and centres along with their members and customers are invited to capture in-the-moment pictures from this summer and autumn.
As ever the aim is to highlight the many opportunities for getting on the water with clubs, associations and centres located or based in the RYA Midlands region.
Previous entries have featured activities ranging from sailing and windsurfing to winging, foiling, canal boating, model yachting, powerboating and paddleboarding, at locations both in the region and further afield with cruising and offshore clubs.
Judges from the RYA Midlands Regional Volunteer Team will also be keen to see images capturing the community spirit and camaraderie of our clubs and venues ashore and afloat.
Ben Hodgson, RYA Midlands Regional Development Officer, said: “If you have a great photo, we’d love to see it! We have a small prize for each month and will be announcing the overall winner at our annual RYA Midlands conference in November.
“We’re really looking forward to once again sharing the many ways people can enjoy being on or by the water with our fantastic network of clubs and centres.”

Each month will see one winner awarded a Helly Hansen 12L lightweight dry bag and the overall winner to be chosen from all of the entries received over the three months will receive an OverBoard 45L Waterproof Backpack.
