British Marine is starting 2024 with a bang! We have various training courses available to upskill your team.

IMM Dubai, UAE – 4-7 March 2024 and IMM Windsor, UK – 13-16 May 2024

We are pleased to announce another two Intermediate Marina Manager courses. The first in the beautiful setting of Dubai, UAE and the second in Windsor, UK. These courses have been consistently sold out so get in touch to secure your place.

This four-day course is accredited by the Global Marina Institute (GMI) and is designed to provide marina personnel in a leadership position with fast-track training in the critical issues in marinas. It is also an essential course in a career path leading to the globally recognised Certified Marina Manager (CMM), Certified Marina Operator and Certified Marina Professional (CMP) qualifications.

The course is aimed at managers, supervisors and foremen who have had at least one full year of experience working at this level.

Marina industry professionals and Certified Marina Managers will share their expertise and knowledge on a wide variety of topics including:

The Law Relating to Brokerage and Boat Retailers – March 2024

Brokers and boat retailers typically have responsibility for ensuring that the legal framework surrounding the sale and purchase of small craft is fit for purpose and for conducting the transaction successfully within this framework. Would you like to ensure your business is operating as legally protected as possible?

This course is designed to give brokers the latest updates and legislation on issues covering law when selling new and second-hand boats. It provides invaluable information and guidance to help you minimise legal problems when selling boats.

The course has been updated post Brexit and is under constant review to give you the most updated and relevant information.

    • Supply of Goods and Service Act, Sale of Goods Act, Unfair Contract Terms Act, Consumer Protection, Types of Misinterpretation, Risk Management, Dispute Resolution, Handling Deposits and Payments, Anti Money Laundering.
  • RCR, Title, VAT, including:

    • Vessel Ownership, Proof of Title, UK Registration, Mortgages and Charges, RCR (briefly), VAT (briefly).

British Marine Electrical Technician (BMET) – 12-13 February, Bournemouth & Poole College

A practical and stimulating two-day course that provides the skills needed for the installation and maintenance of electrics on boats, leading to an industry-recognised qualification. Suitable for electrical engineers looking to further their knowledge and skills and gain a qualification in marine electrics. 

A two-day course based around the BMEEA Code of Practice, the industry-recommended standard. The course is designed to give candidates a general overview of the knowledge and skills required for a BMEEA-certified Marine Electrical Technician. All information and required knowledge is used mainly with UK marine electric systems and follows not only the BMEEA Code of Practice and ISOs, but also the Recreational Craft Regulations (RCR).

 

Marine Electrical Installer – (MEI) – 14 February 2024, Bournemouth & Poole College

An informative one-day course that provides all the skills and knowledge electronic installers need for installation and maintenance of electronics on boats, leading to an industry recognised qualification. Aimed at individuals with at least one year’s experience in electronics.

The Marine Electronics Installer (MEI) certificate is an indication of a working knowledge of NMEA’s Installation Standard, which clarifies and defines competent installation practices. A Marine Electronics Installer has demonstrated this proficiency by passing an examination designed to measure understanding of those principles.
