British Marine member Suzuki GB has recently made several significant announcements, demonstrating that it is a brand that is continuing to go from strength to strength.

INEOS Britannia partnership

During the recent Southampton Boat Show, Suzuki was named as the official supplier of outboards for INEOS Britannia chase boats.

The America’s Cup is one of the world’s toughest sporting challenges and the pinnacle of yachting. As the British Challenger, INEOS Britannia, led by Sir Ben Ainslie and backed by INEOS, strives for engineering excellence and is pushing the boundaries of modern sailing technology and engineering.

The same drive and approach to innovation has been used to identify the very best equipment and components to support the team, which is why Suzuki has been selected as official supplier of outboards.

The outboard of choice will be the dual-propeller DF325A model, with Suzuki providing the team with 12 units in total. The cutting-edge technologies in the DF325A are second to none, and their famed reliability make them ideal for powering the team’s chase boats.

Dave Endean, chief operations officer for INEOS Britannia said: “Performance and reliability are key factors for us in everything we do, so Suzuki was the perfect fit when it came to an outboard supplier for our chase boats. We are very grateful for all the work they have done so far to help our support team get the boats rigged and ready. These outboards will ensure that our support team can keep pace with the race boats during our crucial testing and training.”

RYA Dinghy and Watersports Show sponsorship

Suzuki also announced that it is continuing with its sponsorship of the forthcoming RYA Dinghy and Watersports Show.

Suzuki has supported the show for over 15 years, which has helped the Japanese manufacturer position itself as the go to supplier of outboard motors for sailing club safety boat packages.

RYA director of sport development, Rob Clark, said: “We are hugely grateful to Suzuki for returning once again as our headline sponsor – its commitment to the show remains invaluable. Now in its 71st year, the 2023 Dinghy and Watersports Show presented by Suzuki, is set to once again bring the industry together and inspire thousands of visitors to get out on the water more often.”

Four million outboards

Lastly, and by no means least, the Japanese company proudly announced that it has achieved the significant milestone of having produced four million outboards, since production first began in 1965.

Suzuki’s current line-up spans the lightweight and portable DF2.5 right up to the award-winning, dual-propeller DF350. With all models delivering quiet, fuel-efficient technology without sacrificing on power or performance, Suzuki outboard motors are favoured by customers in over 174 countries worldwide.

Its mid to large horsepower models are manufactured at its Kosai Plant, which is in Shizuoka in Japan, whilst its small, portable outboards are produced at its subsidiary facility in Thailand. The four millionth outboard produced was the brand-new DF350AMD model, which has an integrated steering system and started production in October.

Mark Beeley, head of ATV and marine for Suzuki GB said: “These are all fantastic achievements for us as a company. We are proud to work with INEOS and the RYA, and hope we can play a small part in the success of their respective ventures. I must also take this opportunity to pay tribute to our engineering colleagues in Japan and Thailand who produce the ultimate outboard motors. We’ll be releasing more information about the new DF350AMD very soon, so watch this space!”
