Adams Anecdotes November Blog

Thank you to everyone who has sent us details of their winter events and open meetings. We will promote these on our regional social media channels. and if I can pop along, I will. If you have any events on the horizon and have not already done so, please send details to our Regional Communicator, Emma Rouse, via Email .

Talking of events and as we move into November and reflect on the month gone by. The highlight for me was the completion of our final Senior Instructor course of 2022 at Water Park, Coniston. I’ve also enjoyed meeting the team at Bassenthwaite Sailing Club to start the planning process for the Regional Junior Championships 2023. This will be the first time the event has run at Bassenthwaite since I have been an RDO and I’m looking forward to it.

Regional Performance Manager update

Unfortunately, with highs, there also comes lows, and last month we waved goodbye to Chris Blackburn, who after 16 years as our regional performance manager, leaves the RYA for an exciting new role in the NHS. I had the pleasure of working with Chris for many years, back in the early days when he employed me as a race coach, and I am sure you will join me in wishing the absolute best in his new adventure.

Tim Hall, the Regional Performance Manager for the Midlands, will be taking on the role of Performance Manager for the North on an interim basis. I look forward to working with Tim to drive the region’s Youth Racing. You may have spotted Tim in one of our recent videos from the Regional Training Days in Plas Heli, Pwllheli. We will keep you updated with the latest Youth developments in the region; make sure you follow our regional social channels.

The day is the perfect opportunity for any instructors or volunteers involved in junior training. We will put the new Onboard resources to the test on the water and have some fun in the process. Join us.
