All-Ladies Team Sets Sail for the 2023 Hansa UK Nationals

The stage is set for the highly anticipated 2023 Hansa UK Nationals from Friday, August 4th to Sunday, August 6th. Among the fleet of skilled sailors, Bolton SC stands out with its extraordinary all-ladies team.

Bolton Sailing Club’s all-ladies team epitomises the strength and diversity within sailing. With each member bringing their unique skills, experience, and love for the open waters, they have set their sights on making a resounding impact at the national event.

James Wheeldon, Disability Development Officer for the North, looks forward to next month’s Hansa Nationals.

‘It’s great to have an all-female helm team heading to Rutland for the Hansa Nationals; I wish the ladies and Bolton Sailing Club luck. I will be watching how they get on with anticipation.”

The team of Hannah, Sally, Laura, and Saskia have been on the water practising their racing skills during this year’s Northwest Sailability Series, with Laura, a newcomer to both sailing and racing, achieving a remarkable feat, victorious in the Hollingworth event and finishing the series in 2nd place.

Fellow crew mate Hannah is no stranger to sailing but returns after a three-year break during the Covid-19 pandemic. Hannah looks forward to “Coming home to where it all began at Rutland with my Sailability family and friends”.

This exceptional team serves as a true inspiration. Their remarkable journey is a testament to the fact that passion and determination recognise no boundaries. Each team member has shown incredible growth and dedication, going above and beyond to promote the beauty of our beloved sport.

This group of women has overcome challenges, shattered stereotypes, and united in their shared pursuit of excellence. Their participation at the Hansa UK Nationals highlights their accomplishments and inspires other girls to consider sailing.

James Wheeldon added:

‘Sailability is more than sailing; it’s the opportunity to explore new places, share experiences with others and learn new things.”
