Cockwells Modern and Classic Boatbuilding has reached another significant milestone by achieving the highest sales revenue at a boat show in its history.
At the 2023 Southampton International Boat Show, Cockwells sealed deals for three Duchy 35s and one Hardy 45 European, with an overall value of £4m.
The Duchy 35 is the flagship model of Cockwells’ range of semi-production Duchy Motor Launches that combine the classical lines of the gentleman’s launch of generations past with polished styling and modern luxury. Ranging from 21ft to 60ft, these stylish vessels can be customised with any number of optional extras to create a cruising environment that is unique to each owner, whether sailing on lakes, canals, fjords, or open water.
Based on the classic Hardy 42 hull, renowned for its seakeeping ability and ergonomically designed in collaboration with Andrew Wolstenholme, it provides plenty of personal space for all aboard. The rugged, reliable and all-new Hardy 45 European is equally at home whether cruising the inland waterways of Europe or achieving speeds of up to 28 knots offshore.
“The value of sales generated at the 2023 Southampton International Boat Show is something of a record for us in what has been our busiest ever year,” comments Founder & Executive Chairman, Dave Cockwell. “With soaring demand for our Duchy Motor Launches, Hardy motor yachts and bespoke superyacht tenders, we are recruiting yet more skilled staff – from boatbuilders and GRP finishers to marine electricians and engineers –
to expand our 140-strong team. If you are seeking a new opportunity in a dynamic company that is at the forefront of the modern British boat building industry, we would like to hear from you.”
At the Monaco Yacht Show, the company’s Duchy Sport made its international debut and several large contracts for Cockwells’ exquisite custom-built superyacht tenders are currently being finalised.
“With a full order book stretching well into 2025, the company’s future has never looked brighter,” adds Dave Cockwell. “We are seeing a continuing upward trajectory in terms of demand across our entire product range and have expanded into a new site. Our industry is buoyant and Cockwells is thriving, thanks to the hard work, passion and talent of our skilled workforce. We have ambitious plans to invest further in infrastructure and training so that we can continue to provide more well-paid career opportunities to enable us to meet future demand for Cockwells’ craft in the UK and wider world. There is no better time to join us with so much to look forward to.”
The company offers a four-day 40-hour week with plenty of opportunity for overtime; flexible working; progression and training; competitive rates of pay; free parking; branded uniforms; a pension scheme and secure employment in one of the most beautiful regions of the UK.
