Following OFCOM’s (Office of Communications) changes to licensing requirements regarding electromagnetic fields (EMF) limits, the Office has given formal notice to the vast majority of licensees, including boat builders, charter companies, schools and boatowners, to comply with the new requirements and general public EMF limits and to keep records demonstrating compliance.

This has led to many boatbuilding companies being asked by their customers how to meet these new requirements and for equipment manufacturers to need to supply new information to both boat builders and consumers.

OFCOM has now released further Guidance on EMF compliance and enforcement specifically for ship radio licensees which can be read here

British Marine is communicating with equipment manufacturers in what way they will be assisting the industry and what guidance boatbuilders can expect to receive following these changes.

If you would like to know more about these changes and what you will need to do, British Marine recommends getting in touch with the equipment manufacturer or distributor in the first instance.
