Carolyne Vines from the club reports:
Tamesis held its RYA-sponsored Discover Sailing open day on Saturday 13 May.
The forecast wall to wall sunshine for the afternoon never happened, but spirits were high and hosts and visitors undaunted by the cloud, and encouraged by the perfect wind – not too gentle and not too strong.
The event was run alongside the weekly Saturday Junior session which worked like a dream. The young visitors could see kids their own age having a great time out on the water.
65 visitors were taken out for a sail, and then had tea, squash and cakes or a drink from the bar.
One visitor enthused: “We really enjoyed the Discover Sailing day. It was so well organised and everyone we met was incredibly approachable and friendly. We thought the club was great, such a wonderful location, and thank you for the huge amount of work that had clearly gone into the event.”
The club was buzzing and the day was voted a great success. Mega thanks go to all who helped: the helms, patrol boat drivers, Beach Master, registration team, parents baking cakes and the plethora of other members who just were around smiling and enthusiastic and making the day possible. Mega thanks also to our great staff and to Chris Wade for the fantastic photos, all of which can be viewed on our Facebook page.
