Eyemouth Marine has just received a new 50 ton capacity boatlift to turbo charge retrieval and launching of vessels for the boat yard in Eyemouth.
The Sublift will be able to lift relatively small vessels right up to the largest RNLI Severn Class lifeboats. Delivered by road earlier this week from Sweden, the Sublift is the largest of its kind in Scotland and the UK as a whole. It was craned into the yard over the sheds and arrived ready to go into service on the Eyemouth Marines slips.
The Sublift will allow increased and faster launch and recovery of the boats that Eyemouth currently serves on its slips, including fishing, dive, work and RNLI lifeboats, but also a wider range, including the service and repair of keeled yachts. Typical work done out of the water are inspections, repairs, painting, propeller, shaft and engine servicing and even replacements.
“I am really pleased this bit of kit has arrived, as it is going to massively help us improve our services to our existing customers and the marine sector as a whole in South East Scotland” says Hamish Barbour, marine services director. “It is part of our continued investment in the infrastructure of the yard, office and our people. All aimed at making us a 21st century business.”
Iain Easingwood, dive skipper of the Jacob George, the first boat to be lifted, said: “It is great to see this machine arrive in Eyemouth, as it helps ensure the continuation of vital marine services in the heart of our community.”
