Earlier this year the Department for International Trade (DIT) launched the Internationalisation Fund which is designed to help UK businesses export and develop their presence overseas.

The fund is available to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in England which have high international growth potential and a product or service suitable for international trade.

The funding is based on co-investment – with grants of between £1,000 and £9,000 available, which can be spent on market research, attending oversea trade shows, consultancy and due diligence. The fund can also be used to support public relations activity, advice on intellectual property and translation services.

Eligible businesses must not be considered to be in financial difficulty, should have fewer than 250 employees and preferably have turnover in the region of £500,000, although some companies with lower sales and turnover may still be eligible.

Businesses interested in exporting and attending overseas trade shows should contact DIT’s regional network for more information about the application process.

British Marine members can read more about the eligibility criteria here. We would advise all our members attending overseas shows, including those preparing for METSTRADE (16 – 18 November 2021) to familiarise themselves with the support available.

Access to the trade show is free so head to the METSTRADE website to register your attendance and find out more information about exhibitors and discover the upcoming agenda.
