On 11 January 2022 the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) issued an eBulletin on The Personal Protective Equipment at Work (Amendment) Regulations 2022 (‘the PPER 2022’), which was laid before parliament on 10 January 2022.

The regulations and accompanying impact assessment extend employers and employees duties in respect of personal protective equipment to workers. You can view the regulations here.

The HSE eBulletin that has been published talks through areas such as; what is PPE, what does this mean for employers, what does this mean for workers.

The HSE has prepared interim guidance to help employers identify whether they and their workforce may be impacted by the changes and explains what employers may need to do to prepare for the changes. Which can be downloaded here.

British Marine suggests that you take the time to look over the HSE eBulletin that has been published to make sure that the changes in the UK law do or do not apply to your business, as the PPER 2022 comes into force on 6 April 2022, so you will need to make the necessary preparations needed to comply. You can download and read the full eBulletin that was published by the HSE here.
