ICOMIA has requested industry comments, particularly from superyacht industries, on the IMO’s proposal for a potentially sensitive sea area in the north west Mediterranean.
One of the last remaining meetings taking place at IMO this year will be MEPC 79 (79th session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee) which starts on Monday 12 December 2022.
There are a number of important topics that will be monitored by ICOMIA during this meeting but it particularly wants to highlight the proposal by France, Italy, Monaco and Spain to designate a particular sensitive sea area (PSSA) in the north west Mediterranean Sea.
The document downloadable from the British Marine website here outlines some proposed protective measures, which include voluntary speed reductions (to between 10 and 13 knots).
Please provide any comments or feedback in advance of the MEPC 79 meeting via the British Marine Technical team technical@britishmarine.co.uk and ICOMIA will endeavour to raise this with the respective authorities.
