Join the sustainable boating community at the RYA Dinghy and Watersports Show

Published on: 22 February 2023

Make your commitment to ‘Respect, Protect and Enjoy!’ our coasts and waterways at the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show (25 – 26 February).

From windsurfers to dinghy sailors and personal watercraft users, The Green Blue stand has something for all fans of getting afloat at the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show. Packed with products from The Green Blue Business Directory, interactive activities for younger visitors, and free advice on boating sustainably, The Green Blue stand is a must visit at this year’s Show.

New for 2023 on the stand will be the opportunity to make The Green Blue’s Boating Pledge. Join hundreds of fellow boat and watersport enthusiasts and make your pledge to ‘Respect, Protect and Enjoy’ the waters which we all share. Collect your free badge and pack when you make your Pledge to join the sustainable boating community. Each of the fifteen action points included in the Pledge have been selected due to their positive role in the well-being of habitats and wildlife.  .

As Kate Fortnam, The Green Blue Campaign Manager, explains: “It is clear that many boat and watersports participants have witnessed first-hand the impact that pollution, littering and wildlife disturbance can have and are keen to make a difference in their local area. We’ve been overwhelmed by the Boating Pledge’s positive response from the boating community so far and are really looking forward to sharing it with visitors at the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show.

“We’re also excited to meet and welcome all the successful university sailing clubs from our University Sailing Sustainability Challenge, sponsored by Rooster, onto the Suzuki Main Stage for the prize-giving and celebration ceremony. It is a pleasure to congratulate the clubs each year on their green achievements.”

On Saturday and Sunday, Kate Fortnam will be joined on the Suzuki Main Stage at 1pm by three-time national dinghy sailing champion and member of the British Sailing Team, Hannah Snellgrove. Together they will be chatting about all things sustainable boating and discussing the impact that following just one action from the Boating Pledge can have on the environment. If you enjoy spending time on the water, you’ll want to make room in your day for this talk.

Younger visitors to the Show also won’t want to miss the Boating Pledge-themed Treasure Hunt. Collect all the wildlife stamps as you travel around the Show, and then head over to The Green Blue stand (B10) to make your green Boating Pledge.

You can find The Green Blue stand on B10. The University Sailing Sustainability Challenge Awards will be held on Saturday at 1.15pm on the Suzuki  Main Stage. The Boating Pledge talk will be on Saturday and Sunday at 1pm on the Suzuki Main Stage.

The RYA Dinghy and Watersports Show runs from 25 – 26 February at Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre. Tickets are available from the RYA website – RYA members and children aged 15 and under go free! Adult tickets start at £14.
