Many of the world’s leading yacht manufacturers have chosen the Southampton International Boat Show, taking place from 10-19 September, as the venue for a number of new yacht world premieres. With the creation of the largest man-made marina in Europe as the centrepiece of the show, Southampton International Boat Show is the ideal venue for yacht manufacturers to show their latest models, engaging with both consumers and the trade during the 10 days of the event.
Swedish boat builder Hallberg-Rassy will be revealing its Hallberg-Rassy 400 (13.6m) for the first time at the show. “This will be a very important model in a very competitive sector of the European market,” says Jeremy Mason of Transworld Yachts. “Hallberg-Rassy have been building exceptional cruising yachts on the west coast of Sweden for over 75 years and we have been their UK representatives at Hamble, the focal point of UK sailing, since 1985” he continues. Transworld Yachts will be showing the Hallberg-Rassy 400 alongside the Hallberg-Rassy 57, which at 18.44m is considered the pinnacle of modern, fast offshore cruising yachts.
French manufacturer Beneteau will have five models at the show, including the first chance to see the new Oceanis 40.1 and the 17m Oceanis 54. In a statement, the company says; “Beneteau are delighted to return to the UK for the Southampton International Boat Show which is always a special moment and a great opportunity to launch our newest models on the British market. After a year without boat shows we are looking forward to meeting our customers and dealers there.”
With nine models on show from Dehler, Moody and Hanse, the Inspiration Marine Group emphasises that the Southampton International Boat Show is the most important event in its calendar. “Not only can we showcase the latest models and innovations from our award-winning brands but also introduce the customers of the future to boating in a fun and interesting setting,” says Director Phil Dollin. The UK premiere of the Dehler 38SQ (11.66m) will take place at the show, alongside the launch of the new 12.52m Moody DS41. Six different Hanse yachts – from the Hanse 348 at 10.4m to the Hanse 588 at 17.2m – will be lined up at the show, giving visitors the ultimate opportunity to compare and contrast the range.
Manufactured in Holland, Contest Yachts will be showing its award-winning 17m blue-water cruiser, 55CS, at the show. Accolades for this stunning yacht include being named as the winner of the Luxury Cruiser category, European Yacht of the Year 2021, and winning the Blue Water Cruiser category in the 2020 British Yachting Awards.
French designer and builder Jeanneau will be showing its Sun Fast 3300, world-renowned for racing, alongside its popular SunOdyssey ranges, from 35’ (1 0.66m) to 44’ (13.41m). Each model offers different options designed to suit every type of use, from a lifting keel to light and spacious interiors, and innovative deck designs.
The new Dufour 470 will also be making its debut at the show. With its modernized, contemporary design with the iconic elegance, upwind and downwind performance, the 14.85m Dufour 470 is available in three models – Easy, Ocean and Performance – and will be marketed alongside her smaller sisters, the Dufour 430 (13.24m), 390 (11.93m) and the 10.73m Dufour 360.
The Salona 46 is also making her world debut at the show. This short-handed, long-distance performance cruiser is aimed at couples seeking an extended period of comfortable passage making, a trend which is rising in the UK. Bavaria’s Category A sailing yachts, all capable of the most extreme trans-ocean conditions, will be on display through Clipper Marine.
British shipyard Discovery will be showing the 14.5m Discovery 485 and a walk-in scale model of the interior of the new Southerly 42. “The Southampton International Boat Show is our home show, it enables us to showcase our yachts and demonstrate the best of British yacht building. Due to the size of the show, it offers fantastic brand awareness, not only to the UK but the international markets as well,” says Oliver Hayes, Marketing Manager at Discovery Shipyard.
