The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) has released the report on its investigation into the founding of the leisure boat, Globetrotter.
The report: Sinking of the wooden hulled motorboat Globetrotter with the loss of one life, is available here on the gov.uk website.
In relation to the subject, British Marine would like to remind everyone about Emily’s Code. An aim to prevent accidents at sea by highlighting key safety messages, in addition to leaving a legacy in memory of 14-year old Emily Gardner.
On 2nd May 2015, Emily drowned in a boating accident due to an ill-fitting buoyancy aid snagging on the cleat of a capsized speedboat. Emily’s Code highlights some of the hazards that contributed to her accident.
We would like to encourage all our members to support Emily’s Code by sharing it with all recreational customers, boat owners and hirers. A PDF copy of the Code can be downloaded here.
