The MCA has opened a new consultation seeking views on the new design and structure of the code of safe working practices for merchant seafarers (COSWP) (“the code”).
The code is a mandatory requirement onboard many types of MCA certified vessels and has become an internationally recognised maritime industry standard of best practice.
The code has been redesigned and modernised to improve its structure, ensure consistency, and simplify its language.
The MCA is now looking for feedback on the changes.
