I was born in Dublin, however I grew up in Northern Ireland. I’m lucky to say I spent much of my upbringing sailing so I fell in love with the sport from a very early age. After finishing school, I took a slight break from education to sail across the Atlantic and back with my family and then went on to study media and communications at Cardiff University. Since university, I’ve been freelancing as a journalist and a reporter with ITV and Greatest Hits Radio. I’m really looking forward to working for the RYA and meeting the team over the coming months.
How would your friends describe you?
Perhaps that’s a better question for them! In all honesty though, I would expect they would say I am very outgoing and someone who usually tries to add energy to a room. I don’t take myself too seriously, so I hope that they would say that I am fun to be around.
What’s your idea of a perfect day?
Going sailing with a few close friends and then socialising off the water afterwards would be ideal. Throughout my teenage years I spent time on various RYA performance squads and one of the best things I took away from those experiences was lasting friendships.
Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
I love to sing. Don’t sign me up for any karaokes right away, but I have been a member of choirs throughout my life. I find that it’s a great way to express yourself and de-stress outside of work.
What will you bring to the team?
I hope to use my knowledge of Northern Irish sailing and existing relationships with those involved in it to hit the ground running when it comes to implementing an effective marketing strategy for the RYA. Beyond that, I’m excited to just get my head down and work hard. There are some ambitious plans for the future which I’m really looking forward to being part of.
