The University of the Highlands and Islands, Argyll College is now promoting the Modern Apprenticeship as part of their offering from

the college. Details of the Modern Apprenticeship are available here. Argyll College’s Head of Curriculum, Don Mitchell is keen to let employers know that the college is now accepting the first group of apprentices and encourages interested employers get in touch as soon as possible. The Modern Apprenticeship in Boatbuilding and Repair has two routes: for wooden craft and for metal or composite craft.

The Shipwrights Apprenticeship Scheme may be able to offer support to employers including possible support towards wages for the first year. City of Glasgow College is also keen to be involved in delivery of the Modern Apprenticeship, having the facilities and expertise to offer this training and hopes soon to be looking for interest from employers. Other colleges and training providers may also be able to deliver this training so please check with your local college or provider.
