‘’ It is a busy time for year for performance sailing. Summer competitions are finished, our own RYANI Youth Champs have come and gone so now look forward to the winter training. Selections are an interesting time, established sailors are looking to move to the next step of their pathway and often look to change class, but also new sailors from our clubs and classes turn up for their first attempt to be recognised for their efforts and be selected for our Programmes.’’ Andrew Baker – Performance Manager RYANI
The RYANI Youth Performance Programme is a fundamental step on the RYA Performance Pathway.
For selection, consideration will be determined on the basis of a sailor’s Application Form, performances at class events, the RYANI Youth Championships and abilities/attitudes shown during the selection weekend.
Youth is classified as under 19 years and Junior as under 16 years in the year of selection.
Our aim is to:
– Ensure that Northern Irish sailors receive the best training and advice
– Promote sailors’ Long-Term Development in the sport
– Facilitate sailors in becoming possible candidates for GBR or IRL National Squads with the ultimate aim of the Olympic Games
