Royal Tay Yacht Club are the newest RYA OnBoard centre in Scotland, continuing to promote the huge benefits that they provide to young people who participate in sailing in the heart of Dundee. RYA OnBoard is a hugely successful grassroots programme which can be adapted to suit the needs of participants, clubs, and centres with the ethos of promoting the personal development of character in young people at its core. The programme and resources are designed to support instructors, coaches, and leaders to understand how to deliver sessions which intentionally help that personal development. Benefits to the OnBoard venue include training opportunities, access to resources to support events, and increased opportunities for funding. To learn more, speak to your RDO.
We are looking forward to hearing more stories through our Impact Awards over the winter months. If you wish to celebrate some of the people at your own club who make an impact on your time afloat, take just a few minutes to nominate someone today. You can see previous winners on the RYAS YouTube Channel.
It is time to submit your Portsmouth Yardstick data. The Portsmouth Yardstick handicap system is run jointly by the RYA and its affiliated clubs to allow sailors to race different boats against each other fairly. At the end of each year, clubs submit their results data to the RYA to be collated and analysed. The Portsmouth Yardstick numbers are then adjusted accordingly. The more data received, the more accurate the PY numbers will be. Submissions should be made online by Sunday the 31st of December.
You may have seen that the RYA affiliation process is changing and you may have questions. Have a look at the FAQs for starters. If you still have questions, don’t hesitate to contact your RDO or the RYAS Development Team. We are here to support you!
Learn, share, and grow at the RYA Scotland Connected Conference which will be held on Saturday the 2nd of March 2024 at the Dewars Centre, Perth. If you are part of an RYA-affiliated club, centre, association, or the wider boating community within Scotland, please plan to attend. The comprehensive agenda will provide ample opportunities to hear about and discuss a wide variety of topics relating to going afloat in Scotland. Bookings will go live very soon.
