In December last year, a voluntary no-anchor drop zone was introduced in the Studland Bay conservation zone off the coast of Dorset. This has helped to put the future of the bay in the hands of its users. This voluntary no anchor zone will help mitigate damage to the seabed and help protect the precious seagrass and other important species including seahorses in Studland Bay.
The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) continues to engage with users in the Dorset area and is also putting into place leaflet drops and organising meetings with recreational boat clubs in the spring of this year.
The MMO is also working with Dorset Council on updating information boards in the area to include the new voluntary measures in Studland Bay.
