On behalf of Superyacht UK (SYUK) Chairman, Stephen Hills, British Marine would like to invite you to join two major upcoming Superyacht UK events (both are being held on Thursday 16 September) which will take place alongside the Southampton International Boat Show.
Superyacht UK will welcome members, industry contacts and sector professionals to come together after a long period of time apart to catch up, network and discuss business throughout the day.
A full day of events has been arranged including the annual Superyacht UK Technical Seminar and NEW for 2021 Superyacht Charities (SYC) in association with Superyacht UK, will host the Southampton Seafarers’ Supper sponsored by SYR (Superyacht Recruiter).
Event 1
SYUK Technical Seminar – 16 September 2021
Location: Leonardo Royal Hotel, Southampton
The SYUK Technical Seminar is now in its 11th year and is a well-established event in the Superyacht calendar, welcoming international industry professionals from within the Superyacht world, who will come together to discuss sector specific topics.
This year’s Seminar will take place from 10am at the Leonardo Royal Hotel, Southampton.
The Technical Seminar will update delegates on important industry matters such as the latest regulatory changes with speakers in the morning covering:
- Intact Stability rule changes
- Safe Mooring regulations for vessels over 3000GT
- International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier III changes
- EU Ship Recycling Regulations and the Hong Kong Convention
The afternoon session will then look at current industry trends, problems and solutions with a strong emphasis on the environmental aspects currently affecting the industry with exciting topics including:
- Carbon Offsetting and the Superyacht Industry: Separating Fact from Fiction
- The roles that computational fluid dynamics (the analysis of fluid flows using numerical solution methods (CFD)) and tank testing are playing in large yacht design, how this is helping to improve seakeeping abilities and large yacht efficiencies.
- A sustainable future for shipping, a look at Windship Technology and how this is helping to realise zero carbon shipping.

Event 2
SYC (Superyacht Charities) Southampton Seafarers’ Supper in association with SYUK sponsored by SYR – 16 September 2021
Location: Grand Cafe, Southampton
The Seafarers’ Supper first premiered in Palma and was an instant success. More relaxed than the SYC Ball but just as much fun, the Seafarers’ Supper is intended to sit alongside other industry events in the calendar to give an evening to remember.
This year, the event will take place in the stylish Grand Café, Southampton from 7pm – 11pm.
The mixed format for the venue allows for seating in groups or standing and networking as you enjoy the culinary options designed to suit all tastes. We are still finalising the menu, but since this is a full evening event, you won’t be needing to head anywhere afterwards for a late supper. We are also bringing in a live act to keep you entertained throughout, as well as taking the opportunity to raffle off some quality prizes.
Dress code is ‘Casual Colourful’ so come as you are from the show or pull on a fresh outfit, if you have time.
