Volvo Penta has partnered with Bournemouth and Poole College to offer a brand new four- year apprenticeship programme.

At our training facility in Volvo Penta HQ and with our training partner Bournemouth & Poole College we invest in the latest engines and diagnostic equipment. Along with constant professional development of our training team, we ensure you get the highest quality learning in the marine industry.”
Marine engineering advanced apprenticeship programme
All aspects of marine technology are embedded in this dedicated programme with a focus on electronics, diagnostics and computer management systems.
- Working in a dealership – on the job training in a workshop, gaining hands-on experience under the supervision of a trained mentor.
- 10 day blocks of residential training at Bournemouth & Poole College covering everything from technology in marine engines to engine details and components.
- Additional Volvo Penta specific training at Volvo Penta’s UK & Ireland HQ encompassing topics such as propulsion systems and the latest diagnostic techniques. Also service, maintenance installation & repair.

Based at Bournemouth and Poole College the fully equipped workshops allow apprentices to work on the latest Volvo Penta Marine engines, drivelines and propulsion systems with the most up to date equipment and tools.
The marine industry is constantly changing, and we are committed to giving apprentices an innovative training programme that keeps up with them. That is why your lectures always have the latest knowledge on our products to enhance the training experience.

Qualifications and accreditation
With a network of over 40 Volvo Penta Workshops throughout the UK & Ireland, and many more worldwide, completing an apprenticeship could be the beginning of a path to new roles, teams, skills and opportunities across the business.
On successfully completing the Volvo Penta Marine Apprentice Programme, apprentices will have gained recognised national qualifications in the marine industry: Marine Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 Awarding body City & Guilds
In addition, Volvo Penta Marine holds an event where apprentices and family will be invited to a special graduation day to receive a certificate and possibly a special merit award at the end of the apprenticeship.
