Benfleet Yacht Club celebrates its 100th Anniversary

Today, it is active in terms of dinghy and cruiser sailing, with an active coastal rowing section. Dinghy sailing and coastal rowing mainly take place in the sheltered waters of Benfleet Creek, whilst for yacht cruising, the creek provides a gateway to the Thames Estuary and beyond.

At a special ceremony, Doug MacEwen, Chair of the RYA East Committee presented an RYA East certificate of recognition to celebrate 100 years of Benfleet Yacht Club. Also pictured is John Hancock, Commodore of Benfleet Yacht Club and Charles Anderson, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Essex, who gave the main speech of congratulations.

Looking forward to 2023, the Club has planned a full social and sailing activity programme – and you can find out more about the Club here https://www.benfleetyachtclub.org/
