DEFENDA launches the world’s first sustainable fender cover

Published on: 24 April 2023

Leading superyacht fender manufacturer DEFENDA has launched the world’s first sustainable fender cover. Its new Bioprene FENDASKIN is made from organic raw materials and delivers improved performance and longevity, when compared to neoprene or acrylic alternatives.

Simon Billington, managing director of DEFENDA, commented: “End-of-life fender covers account for a huge amount of waste that’s typically destined for landfill. We’ve been working on solving this problem for the last few years and are delighted to finally have a solution that achieves all of our sustainability objectives. Additionally, we have partnered with Circular Flow, a ground-breaking organisation that has recently opened the world’s first neoprene recycling and manufacturing plant, allowing us to send customer’s old neoprene covers for reprocessing, while replacing them with a sustainable alternative.”

FENDASKIN can be used on most inflatable fenders and are seen on many of the world’s largest private yachts. DEFENDA inflatable fenders are manufactured in Europe, using military grade fabric and state-of-the-art production techniques.
