Decarbonising UK Industry

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), in partnership with Innovate UK KTN, will be hosting an in-person event in Manchester on Wednesday 22 November 2023, to showcase some of the projects funded in Phase 2 of the Industrial Energy Transformation Fund (IETF). The event will also present the Government’s response to the recent IETF Phase 3 consultation.

The IETF supports businesses with high energy use to transition to a low carbon future, and to cut their energy bills and carbon emissions through increased energy efficiency and decarbonisation relating to the industrial process itself. It is a crucial part of the Government’s strategy for tackling climate change and reaching Net Zero by 2050.

This was demonstrated by the announcement in the recent Powering up Britain publication that the Government will launch Phase 3 of the IETF, worth up to £185 million for UK businesses, in early 2024.

The IETF Technology Showcase event will include an opportunity to hear from industrial sites which are deploying technologies to reduce their energy demand and carbon emissions with support from the IETF.

As well as helping you to understand how technology can reduce your energy demand and decarbonise your operations, it will be a great opportunity to network face to face and build partnerships on your pathway to net zero carbon.

The event will also present the Government’s response to the recent consultation on Phase 3 of the IETF and will discuss their future plans to launch Phase 3 in 2024 as well as other support that may be useful to you, including the Energy Advice Service.

The event will benefit a number of organisations and professionals including:

  • Manufacturing companies
  • Mining and quarrying companies
  • Recovery and recycling of materials companies
  • Data centres
  • Energy efficiency and decarbonisation technology providers
