Entries are now open for Eric Twiname Youth and Junior Team Racing Championships

Thanks to the generous support of RS Sailing providing additional RS Fevas and Versadock providing the temporary pontoons needed to get the sailors to their boats,  the Eric Twiname Trust, the RYA and Oxford Sailing Club are thrilled to announce the addition of an extra event to the Eric Twiname Youth and Junior Championships taking place on 7-8 October.

With nearly double the number of applicants compared to available spots in recent years, the addition of the pre-Junior championship class will aim to introduce more sailors than ever to the world of team racing at the Championships this year.

Unlike traditional team racing events, the pre-Junior championship will have an experienced team of team racers as umpires. Their role is to guide the participants in understanding the rules, maximising their racing experience and enjoyment as well as providing assistance when needed.

New age group categories

The expansion of the junior competition has led to some tweaks in the age categories. The Youth category in Fireflys remains for those under 19, while the upper age limit in the Junior category in Fevas, has increased to U17 with the pre-junior championship having an upper age limit of U15. However, under 17 participants can still opt to compete in the Youth fleet, and under 15s have the chance to sail with 15 or 16-year-olds in the U17 Junior fleet.
