This June, get ready to set sail at the RYA Regional Youth Junior Championships for British Youth Sailing, an incredible festival filled with sailing and windsurfing excitement.
If you’re between the ages of 8 and 15 years old and have a passion for club sailing or windsurfing, these championships are for you! Participants will be divided into fleets based on their level of experience.

The dinghy Rookie fleet warmly welcomes newcomers and is supported by RYA OnBoard, providing coaching sessions and engaging instructor-led games on the water.
The dinghy Coached Regatta fleet is ideal for intermediate sailors who are eager to start racing, Led by British Youth Sailing Coaches, this fleet prepares juniors for the Championship Fleet. Prizes awarded for sportsmanship and results.
The dinghy Championship fleet is reserved for skilled junior racers actively competing in British Youth Sailing Recognised Classes. The focus is on a championship-style event, with prizes awarded to the top performing junior sailors in each class and Regional Champions.
The windsurfing championships are run and organised by the RYA Regional Coaches, who will be coaching and offering advice to all sailors and parents that attend

When and where are the events taking place?
Exciting windsurfing and dinghy championship events are scheduled across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Regional windsurfing events are set for 10th June 2023, while junior dinghy sailing enthusiasts can look forward to regional championships on 17th-18th June 2023. Additionally, the RYA Home Countries have their own regattas planned. Find an event and book your place here.
Classes eligible for Coached Regatta and Championship Fleets
The Coached Regatta and Championship Fleets are open to various dinghy classes, including Optimist, Topper, RS Tera Sport, RS Feva XL, Cadets (at Grafham Water Sailing Club), and ILCA 4s (at Bassenthwaite Sailing Club, Grafham Water Sailing Club, and Royal Torbay Sailing Club). The windsurfing classes eligible for the Championship fleet are Techno 293, with rig sizes of 4.5, 5.8, 6.8, or 7.8m. It’s important to choose the appropriate class and fleet when registering, as classes may vary by region.
