Applications are now open for the RYA Northern Ireland Coach Development Programme which offers free training to those aiming to develop their coaching skills to become a national level race coach.
Providing this free training to coaches is an investment in the future of sailing in Northern Ireland, helping to ensure that the sport continues to develop across a range of areas.
On top of paid work within traditional coaching environments, successful applicants could gain paid work as a Development Academy Coach, a Team Racing Coach or a Women On Water Ambassador. These are new roles which have developed within recent RYA Northern Ireland programmes.

Development Academy Coach
The role of the lead coach is to provide a supportive learning environment for junior sailors within the Development Academy, sharing their passion towards the racing pathway to the younger generation.
Salary: Lead coach – £110 per day plus expenses (x 4 posts available)
Assistant coach – £70 per day plus expenses (x4 posts available)
Shadowing – we are offering shadowing opportunities for instructors who wish to develop their skills and become part of the RYANI Coaching Pool.

Team Racing Coach
The role of the lead coach is to help deliver our Team Racing Programme, delivering structured sessions to increase the knowledge of this developing area of sailing. Team racing coaches should ideally have an in-depth knowledge of team racing rules and tactics.
Salary: Lead Coach – £110 per day plus expenses (x 3 posts available dependant on availability)
Assistant Coach – £70 per day plus expenses (posts dependant on availability)

Women On Water Ambassador
The role of a Women On Water ambassador is to lead and develop the Women on Water Development Programme. By providing a supportive learning environment for women within clubs and centres our aim is to encourage higher participation levels, upskill people across a variety of pathways and develop a passion for people to develop in their chosen pathway.
Salary: Senior Ambassador- £110 per day plus expenses (x 4 posts available)
Junior Ambassador – £70 per day plus expenses (x4 posts available)
Shadowing – we are offering shadowing opportunities for instructors who wish to develop their skills and become part of the RYANI Coaching Pool.
