New courses available to develop skills and training

Sail Measure

A Sail Measure course, which is approved by World Sailing, will take place at Strangford Lough Yacht Club. The course will be led by RYA’s Technical Manager, Adam Parry. 

It is designed to train sail measurers and is the perfect stepping stone for aspiring measurers who want to learn the necessary skills for measuring in a standard class rules format.

Safeguarding

An online safeguarding awareness course, led by Sport Northern Ireland, will be held on Monday 27 February. 

The course is important for all adults involved in children’s sport but it is particularly recommended for coaches, leaders, administrators and officials.

Designated Safeguarding Children’s Officers

Sport Northern Ireland will run a course for Designated Safeguarding Children’s Officers (DSCO) on 21 and 22 March from 7pm-9pm.

The course aims to support those undertaking the role of the DSCO, including creating an awareness of key legislation and good practice. 

It takes place over two evenings and is key for those who are taking on a safeguarding role at their club or centre. To find out more and sign up, click here.
