North West Blog December

The cold weather has officially hit

It is chilly outside, but it is also fantastic to see all the winter events clubs have planned both on and off the water, and I hope you can get together at your clubs for some seasonal sailing and the odd mince pie!

However, if you have retired to the warmth of your home to enjoy a spot of sofa e-sailing with your quality streets, please do pop into the club and check on your boat. In previous years we have had some harsh winter weather, and we need to ensure our boats are as secure, tied down and as watertight as possible.

Don’’t let that put you off, though; some fantastic events are happening over Christmas, starting with Dovestones Christmas Plate, which returns for the first time in two years on 18th December. Don’t miss this one; book your places online now.

There are many events to keep us entertained over Christmas, and we will be sure to promote them on our social pages, so keep your eyes peeled.

It was nice to see you!

Thank you to the 50 delegates who joined us at our Affiliated Club Conference on the first weekend of December; it was great to get together and discuss the issues that matter to you. We hope you found it helpful, made some new connections and enjoyed sharing your ideas for 2023. I certainly did!

A big thank you to Sara Sutcliffe, CEO, RYA; Matthew Daly, Royal Windermere Yacht Club and Bill Kenyon Budworth Sailing Cub, who were panellists for the morning session. It was the first time we had run the session in that format, and it was fascinating to hear from a mixture of staff and club volunteers on the ground.

Whilst we were all together at the conference, it was also the perfect opportunity for us to present Winsford Flash Sailing Club with the Northwest Region’s OnBoard Club of the Year Trophy 2022. In the summer, Winsford had a fantastic Scout taster day attended by 114 young people who were deserving recipients. Winsford also had the most participants attend the Junior Traveller series, so they picked up the Participation Trophy for the Junior Travellers, too- An excellent day for Winsford!

Regional Training Day – 18th March at the Anderton Centre. The event is always a sell-out, and with capacity limited at 80, please sign up as soon as booking goes live.

I would like to finish by wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and I look forward to seeing you all on the water in 2023.

Adam
