The Office for Product Safety and Standards has released a Product Safety Report for the Jiuran Neoprene life jacket. The product has been found to present a serious risk of drowning due to the absence of independent conformity assessment to demonstrate the product will perform when required.
The life jacket is described as blue with black clips and a leaf pattern on its right side.
Hazard
The product is classed as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). However, the product does not meet the requirements of the Personal Protective Equipment (Enforcement) Regulations 2018 and Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on personal protective equipment.
Corrective action
The life jackets have now been withdrawn from the market and the listing has been removed by the online marketplace (Fruugo). Owners of the life jacket are advised to stop using it.
