Response to Oban Harbour Revision Order

Argyll and Bute Council applied to Scottish Ministers to make a Harbour Revision Order (HRO), which will extend the Council’s jurisdiction as harbour authority for Oban Harbour to the wider bay area.

The consultation period for any person desiring to make an objection or representation on the application to Scottish Ministers was highlighted previously and closed on the 10th January 2024.

RYA Scotland have submitted an objection to the HRO on behalf of members and the wider boating community in the consultation. The full response is now available and thank you to the contributions from the many individuals who also took time to submit their feedback as part of the consultation.

Oban is an important Scottish port, used both commercially and by many leisure boaters as a gateway to the West coast cruising grounds. There are background and ongoing information regards Oban Municipal Harbour available on Argyll and Bute’s website..

The staff and volunteers at RYA Scotland frequently represent the interests of the boating community and we are currently looking for additional volunteers for committees, like the Cruising and General Purposes Committee. If you would like to become involved then please visit our recruitment page
