Youth and junior sailors are being urged to get their entries in for the upcoming RYA Cymru Wales Youth and Junior Championships at Pwllheli.
This prestigious annual racing event is one of the biggest in Wales and will be taking place this year over the weekend of 23-24 September at Plas Heli, Pwllheli.
The entry deadline is this Friday 15 September and as ever the two-day event will offer something for everyone and for all ages from rookies to experienced racers.
There will be championship fleet racing providing hot competition to see who will be crowned with this year’s Welsh titles for each youth and junior class.
For those who are relatively new to competing and to big events, there will also be regatta fleet racing with RYA Cymru Wales coaches on hand to offer help and support.
Squads indicator
Sarah McGovern, Performance Manager for Wales, said: “This is a fantastic event to round off the season for all our youth and junior sailors and a great opportunity for everyone to put into practise all the skills and race craft they’ve gained from training and competing over summer.
“As ever we’re on the lookout for parents and volunteers who are willing to lend a helping hand so do get in touch if you’re able to support us, and please do remember to share the entry details with all the youth and junior sailors at your club or centre!
“We have more than 50 entries and counting so far from across Wales and beyond so we’re looking forward to a brilliant weekend of racing across the classes in both the Coached Regatta and Championship fleets.”
The event is a must-do indicator for this year’s Welsh Youth & Junior Winter Squads 2023-24 for sailors in the Optimist, Topper, RS Feva, 420, 29er and ILCA 4,6,7 pathway classes.
