Sailor from Ballyholme Yacht Club Claims Silver in Virtual Sailing at Olympic Esports Series
Cavan Fyans, a Northern Irish sailor from Ballyholme Yacht Club, secured the silver medal in the Virtual Regatta sailing inshore event of the Olympic Esports Series in Singapore. Competing against talented participants, Cavan proudly represented the UK and showcased his skills on the virtual seas. It was France’s Tim Carpentier however, that emerged as the overall champion after delivering consistent performances throughout.
In the final race, Fyans initially took the lead but unfortunately incurred a penalty, allowing Carpentier to take advantage and claim his first race victory, ultimately securing the event title. Meanwhile, Jose Godinho faced difficulties during the final race and fell behind the fleet.
Cavan’s success in the Virtual Regatta sailing event, which featured races across different classes, including ILCA, 49er, J70, and Nacra 17, highlights his talent and dedication as a sailor, both on water and in the virtual field. Cavan’s silver medal is a testament to his perseverance and skill.
